Company History
Gurrentz International Corporation is a fourth generation family company founded in 1937 by Harry Gurrentz. He was joined by his son, Morton, in 1954. Together, the two grew the business from a small, local distributor of fresh beef to one of the largest importers of beef into the U.S.A. Gurrentz imports beef from all major exporting countries of the world: Australia, New Zealand, Central and South America and Canada.
During the 1980’s, Morton’s sons, Rodger and Patrick, entered the business and in 2016, Rodger’s son Ryan joined, and in 2018, Patrick’s son Jackson joined, making it a fourth generation company. While maintaining established interests in imported boneless beef, they expanded the product base, adding specialty imported cuts, domestic boxed beef, and other proteins such as pork, turkey, and chicken.
Gurrentz International sells in excess of two-hundred million pounds of beef annually. Gurrentz imports and distribute through all major ports and internal shipping points in the United States. Gurrentz also maintains a fully staffed buying office in Sydney, Australia and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Through these offices we communicate daily with all the major packers in Australia/New Zealand and Central/South America.
Jim Davis, based at his family ranch in San Diego County in California, manages the trading of most of the domestic beef cuts and trimming, and assists in increasing our visibility in the western half of the US. Jim is an expert in beef cuts and can assist you with any questions you may have regarding these items.
